Virtual Scape:
I noticed a lot being cleared on my way to the studio once. I was young, and in those days the clear cutting of trees made an impression. I stopped to take pictures and wonder what was going to replace the trees. I later heard that the land was being cleared for a Wal-Mart which never came then, but did recently in its smaller food market only version. I took pictures of that first clear-cutting and went to a Walmart to buy fabric. I combined the fabric designs with the photos I had taken of the land. This series was born from that. As it went on, it turned into a meditation on reproduction. The works on paper are collages using images from catalogues that came to my mailbox, I think of them as a kind of landscape as well.
